Husband, Father, Son, Public Servant and Native Son Announces Candidacy

South Bend, IN—Today, with family, friends and supporters, Mr. Henry Davis, Jr. officially announced his candidacy for the Second District of South Bend on the Common Council.

“I am humbled at the prospect of representing the Second District on the South Bend Common Council. I am running because the second district needs a leader that will ensure equitable distribution of city services, safe neighborhoods and access to living wage employment, said Davis.

Campaign Chair Lynn King, Sr. said, “The second district deserves investment and Henry is committed to bringing it. He has a proven track record of serving the second district whether in an elected or unelected position. Henry has worked to improve our schools, developed affordable housing, protected our seniors and created jobs and economic opportunity for those living on the margins.  I am grateful that he has decided to run.”

Henry Davis, Jr. served as a representative for the second district for two terms. He currently resides on the city’s far west side with his wife and son. He serves as President of the Lasalle Park Neighborhood Alliance and served as past president of  the Indiana Democratic African American Caucus of South Bend, member of the South Bend branch of the NAACP. He also served as the past Polemarch of South Bend Alumni chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.

The primary election for municipal elections will be held May 7th, 2019.
